When the tide is high, the Petaluma River opens into a quieter, greener world.
Join The Floathouse crew for a gentle, guided paddle upstream, perfectly timed to a 6.9-foot high tide. With extra water beneath us, we’re able to glide beyond the downtown channel and into a tranquil tidal slough—lush, calm, and normally out of reach.
As we move upstream at an unhurried pace, keep an eye out for great egrets, blue herons, snowy egrets, turtles basking along the banks, and abundant plant life along this brackish, tidal waterway. The calm water and natural surroundings create a deeply grounding experience.
Along the way, knowledgeable guides share stories of the river’s ecology and human history, offering insight into how this upper channel has shaped—and continues to shape—Petaluma. It’s a rare opportunity to experience how close wild nature lives to the heart of downtown.
Beginner-friendly. Sit-on-top kayaks and all gear provided.
