LAGUNITAS – PETALUMA BORN
World-famous Lagunitas Brewing started in Petaluma, where it still has its base of operations, flagship tasting room, tours, and an amphitheater for summer music in addition to live music and other events in its beer garden year-round. Tour the operation and sampling their latest release at its massive operation in Maker Alley, on Petaluma’s east side.

Across the street from Lagunitas, HenHouse Brewing Company crafts lesser-known beer styles, such as saison, Oyster Stout, and Belgian-style golden ale.
Or find your Zen, a grapefruit hard seltzer with fresh citrus aroma and flavors at Crooked Goat Brewing on the west side.
Feeling adventurous? Coming from a home brewing background, Adobe Creek Brewing never stops experimenting!
For beer tastings with a river view, try Taps on the River, in the River Plaza shopping center on East Washington Street. Enjoy gourmet pub grub with fido by your side in the ample patio dining area.
Pub Republic, on the south end of town, on Lakeville Highway, is a local favorite serving farm-to-table cuisine with beer flights or a new favorite pint.
Petaluma even has a speakeasy kombucha joint. Across East Washington, on Copeland street, Hoocha Hard Kombucha offers tastings of its locally made fermented kombucha during irregular hours and by appointment.
TAPROOM TUNES
Sonoma County, and Petaluma in particular, draw lovers of live music from all over the area. No exploration of Petaluma’ live music scene is complete without hitting Brewsters and The Block.
Brewsters Beer Garden hosts music on weekends at its massive outdoor, partially covered space, which includes a kids area and a fire pit. During the holidays, they roll out the Miracle, which transforms the space with over-the-top holiday decor and kicks off with a visit from the man in red.
The Block has a permanent tap room and open-air seating surrounded by rotating pop up eateries and a stage for weekend live music on one end.
PETALUMA RIVER CRAFT BEER FEST
If you’re visiting in early September, plan to attend the Petaluma River Craft Beer Fest. Strolling between booths saves on gas and the proceeds support local nonprofits, making it a great sustainable travel option.
