When the tide is high, the Petaluma River—Petaluma’s “Longest Park”—opens into a quieter, greener world.
Join The Floathouse crew for a gentle, guided paddle upstream, timed to higher tides that allow access beyond the downtown channel and into a tranquil tidal slough. This is the beginning of the park—the headwaters journey—though how far we travel depends on the day’s tide.
With extra water beneath us, we glide into calm, lush stretches of the river that are often out of reach. Along the way, watch for great egrets, blue herons, snowy egrets, turtles basking along the banks, and abundant plant life along this brackish, tidal waterway.
Knowledgeable guides share stories of the river’s ecology and history, offering insight into how this upper channel has shaped Petaluma.
Beginner-friendly. Sit-on-top kayaks and all gear provided.
