Step Back in Time at the Petaluma Adobe! California State Parks invites you to celebrate Petaluma Adobe Living History Day. This family friendly event brings 1840’s Mexican California to life inside and outside the two-story adobe walls of General Vallejo’s rancho headquarters.
Meet the vaqueros, traders, cooks, and crafts people who lived in Mexican California. Walk among living history volunteers, adorned in beautiful authentic clothing, and watch entertaining historical skits that reveal stories of the past. Learn basket weaving and candle making techniques. Make a piece of rope and play games. Observe the intricate process of making lace. Join a docent led tour.
“This unique, annual event continues to immerse and inspire people to experience Mexican California in the 1840’s,” says State Park Interpreter, Jennifer Hanson. Bring your picnic lunch, spread a blanket, relax and enjoy the spring vista. Glimpse into another time at this fascinating state park. Visitors are encouraged to dress for the outdoors and to leave pets at home. Drink and food concessions are not available in the park.
Admission includes all activities. Adults $3.00, children (6 to 17) $2.00, 5 and under enter free. Petaluma Adobe Living History Day is sponsored by Sonoma Petaluma Parks, Inc. California State Parks supports equal access. Prior to arrival, visitors with disabilities who need assistance should contact the Petaluma Adobe SHP at 707-762-4871.
