Sip. Sip. Hooray!

Whether you’re looking for a caffeine boost or a tantalizing tipple, Petaluma has exactly what you need in order to quench your thirst.

HOPPY TRAILS

For exceptional craft beers with fun atmosphere, hit up these local spots for a good time.

Burgers and brewskies abound at Dempsey’s Restaurant and Brewery. Brewing everything from lagers and ales to pilsners and porters, thirsty beer lovers will surely be in sudsy paradise.

The unique barrel-aged beers at HenHouse Brewing Company make for a clucking good time. The upstart brewery releases a new IPA every week, so there’s always something new to try.

One of the most popular craft breweries in America, Petaluma-based Lagunitas Brewing Company makes for a fun time all year long. With multiple seating areas, a dog-friendly policy, and live music, the taproom is the perfect spot to sample a flight or sip a pint of the latest limited release.

START THE DAY RIGHT

Coffee and tea lovers rejoice for the bounty of morning and afternoon pick-me-ups in Petaluma.

Gardner and Sheila Bride founded the beloved Petaluma Coffee & Tea 30 years ago, bringing fair trade Arabica coffee and premium teas to the neighborhood before it was cool. The cafe and roaster is still the go-to spot for a cozy cup of joe.

After erecting a store out of scrap lumber six years ago, Acre Coffee has grown to be a fixture in the community (with three Petaluma locations alone). The bright spaces offer all the classics, but the local roaster has also ventured into the effervescent with the introduction of gut-healthy kombucha to its drink menus.

SPIRITED AWAY

If you’re fancying “the hard stuff,” Petaluma’s craft distillers are putting their own spin on spirits.

The brand spanking new Barber Lee Spirits opened in downtown Petaluma this year. Michael and Lorraine Barber — who also run a wine tasting room, Barber Cellars — teamed up with entrepreneur and whiskey lover Aaron Lee to create spirits that celebrate California’s rye renaissance.

Across the street from Lagunitas is Griffo Distillery, a family-run operation that creates small-batch spirits made with California-grown ingredients. Stop in for a tour and tasting.

Sonoma Coast Spirits specializes in infused vodkas such as jalapeno-lime and citrus-basil, both of which made the “O List” for O, The Oprah Magazine in 2018. The distillery plans to open a tasting room in 2019 but in the meantime, their vodkas can be found in local stores and online.

IN VINO VERITAS

When in doubt, wine it out at any of Petaluma’s outstanding wine tasting rooms.

Right along Petaluma’s riverfront is the exceptional Adobe Road Winery. Pouring small lot, handcrafted wines, the boutique winery produces high-quality, expressive wines.

For something different, Sonoma Portworks is the only winery in Sonoma County that specializes in ports and after-dinner wines. Pop into the tasting room to experience a flight of the cellar’s finest wines and grappa, as well as delectable wine and food pairings.

Or explore the best of local and international wines at Petaluma’s tasting rooms. Incavo Wine Tasting & Collective highlights small-batch wines in a cozy bar and lounge, while La Dolce Vita Wine Lounge features an extensive international wine list to pair with a tasty menu of paninis and pizzas. Vine & Barrel is sure to dazzle even the most discerning wine lovers with its collection of more than 600 wine bottles on display. Purchase a bottle, then bring it to the back room to pair with delectable tapas.
