It’s Always Punny in Petaluma!

When one of Petaluma’s most recognized characters celebrates a milestone birthday, it’s fitting that the whole town join in wishing her happy birthday!

When Clo the Cow turned 50 in 2019, it was fitting that the Butter & Egg Days Parade & Festival paid tribute to the always-smiling mascot for Clover Sonoma and the PUNderful sense of humor that she shares on billboards throughout the county. She was the ideal parade mascot because Clo’s creative puns remind us that there is a lot to smile about when you live in such a beautiful and bountiful part of the world.

An EGGstraordinary SHELLebration

Clover Sonoma is just one of the many UDDERly EGGceptional businesses in Sonoma COWnty that the coMOOunity will recognized on parade day. The theme was chosen to bring attention to the myriad of businesses and organizations including agricultural producers, manufacturers, breweries, distilleries and wineries, food producers, and non-profits who share their creativity, passion and entrepreneurial spirit with us. Although the industries are diverse, a common thread unites them – the joy that comes from being a vibrant contributor to the community.

An APUNdance of Puns

The parade them invited participants to emMOOlate Clo’s punny comMOOnication and have fun with their parade floats and banners.

“Petaluma is known for its creativity. This year’s theme gives our amazing businesses and organizations the opportunity to follow Clo’s lead and show off their originality by creating puns for their entries in the parade. Whether they chose to pay homage to Clo or celebrate their own organization, the more puns the better!” says Marie McCusker, executive director of the Petaluma Downtown Association

 The PDA EGGsemplifies ComMOOnity

For the past 38 years, the PDA has produced the Butter & Egg Days Parade and Festival which brings more than 25,000 people into downtown, thousands more for the Spring Antique Faire on the following day, and the Art & Garden Festival in July. Without the PDA, these events wouldn’t EGGsist!
