Petaluma Coffee & Tea – Steeped in Community

Petaluma is known for its authenticity. From the well-preserved Victorian iron-front buildings in the downtown district to the community’s agricultural roots that are a prime driver in making Petaluma a premiere cheese and dairy producing region, there is a sense of place felt by locals and visitors alike.

Step into Petaluma Coffee & Tea at 212 2nd Street and you’ll feel the same kind of well-grounded experience. The aroma of authenticity permeates the air. It’s immediately apparent that this is a business that has deep roots both in the community and in the world of coffee and tea.

Still independently owned and operated, Petaluma Coffee & Tea will celebrate their 30th anniversary next year. From the beginning, founders and owners Sheila and Gardner Bride have created a warm and welcoming space in their retail store near downtown and supplied their retail and wholesale customers with the finest variety of on-site custom-roasted coffees and hand-selected teas. On any given day, customers can choose from 40 different varieties of coffee and over 100 loose teas.

The best kept secret at Petaluma Coffee & Tea, is all day, every day, customers can get a 12 ounce cup of coffee for a $1. That’s right, the freshest coffee, roasted right in their store for $1. The dollar cup has been a staple from day one;

Retail and Marketing manager Ashley Fraser says that Petaluma Coffee & Tea was founded on the premise that “everyone deserves a warm cup of coffee, and a comfortable place to sit and to be treated with respect.” It’s no wonder that their store is such a gathering spot for the community.

As Petaluma Coffee & Tea enters their fourth decade, plans are underway for adding some very unique coffees to their selection, including the continuation of their barrel aged coffee, the ‘Roastmaster Series’ featuring specialty micro-lots, and options to purchase beans that support non-profits in that particular  growing region.

While the variety of coffees they offer are broad enough to satisfy the most discerning coffee geek – fruity or roasty today? – Petaluma Coffee & Tea pride themselves on not being pretentious. And for the past 30 years, they put their money where their mouth is.
