DISTILLERIES IN PETALUMA
Petaluma has a strong maker culture that creates artisan products from jeans and handbags to spices, olive oil, and hot sauce. When it comes to adult beverages, wine, beer, and kombucha are only the beginning. If you’re looking for your next favorite whiskey, gin, vodka, or rye, look no further than Petaluma. Petaluma boasts several distilleries that produce award-winning small-batch spirits that enhance the farm-to-table restaurant experience and transform your cocktail night. Two of Petaluma’s four distilleries host tastings in a casual, welcoming environment.
BARBER LEE SPIRITS
Barber Lee Spirits distills mostly rye and bourbon from “grain to glass” in their downtown Petaluma location. With tradition and sustainability as their guide, their spirits are distilled sans computers and contain non-GMO, organic grains, herbs, and fruits. The leather labels made from scraps add a touch of class and true western vibe.
The distillery and tasting room are in historic downtown at 120 Washington St. Reservations are not required for parties of fewer than seven, but are recommended. The tasting room is open Wednesday – Sunday. Enjoy a happy hour cocktail ($11) from their full cocktail menu Wednesday-Friday 4 pm – 6 pm.
GRIFFO DISTILLERY
Griffo Distillery continues to receive national awards for its uniquely Petaluman spirits. And its laid back vibes, Sunday fun with food trucks and live music, and Gin Jam nights raise spirits at its Maker Alley location.
Book a tour to meet Betty, Griffo’s 320-gallon copper pot still, learn how distilling works, and get a peak at the special touches that make Griffo’s spirits stand out. The tour culminates in a guided tasting of five spirits of your choosing in the barrel room.
Visit the tasting room Thursday – Sunday at 1320 Scott Street where you can enjoy a glass or a cocktail and buy bottles of gin, whiskey, vodka, brandy, cold brew coffee liqueur, premade cocktails, and mixers to enjoy at home.
SONOMA COAST SPIRITS
Sonoma Coast Spirits, a family-run distillery, prides itself on using the freshest ingredients, even using fruits and herbs grown and preserved by owner Jill Olson. The distillery produces craft cocktails, vodka, and whiskey available at restaurants, drinking establishments, and retailers across the state.
MOYLAN’S DISTILLING & STILLWATER SPIRITS
Since 2004, in a custom waterfront facility at Foundry Wharf, Moylan’s Distilling & Stillwater Spirits has produced spirits from start to finish, from processing raw materials to bottling the final award-winning product. Though they have no tasting room, you can find their whiskey, single malt whiskey, bourbon, rye, gin, vodka, brandy, beer schnapps, and grappa online in California and many other states, at numerous California retailers, restaurants, and cocktail bars, and served at these Petaluma establishments:
