As the sun begins to set, the Petaluma River—”Petaluma’s Longest Park”—opens into a quieter, glowing world.
Join The Floathouse crew for a gentle, guided paddle upstream, timed to a 6.2-foot high tide peaking at 7:53 pm, just as the light begins to soften toward sunset at 8:37 pm. With extra water beneath us, we’re able to glide up beyond downtown’s main channel into a tranquil space. How far we can travel depends on the tide, and this one bodes well!
As golden hour unfolds, paddle through calm, lush stretches of river that are often out of reach. Watch for egrets and herons settling in for the evening, turtles along the banks, and the warm light reflecting across this brackish, tidal waterway.
Along the way, your Floathouse guide shares stories of the river’s ecology and history as day turns to dusk—an unforgettable way to experience how close wild nature lives to the heart of downtown.
Beginner-friendly. Sit-on-top kayaks and all gear provided.
