PETALUMA RESTAURANTS
Perhaps because Petaluma sits between Wine Country and San Francisco, two locales that are known for their devotion to delicious food, we claim more than our fair share of award-winning restaurants. Our agricultural heritage, fertile soil, and mild climate clearly give Petaluma chefs an advantage when creating their gourmet menus. Many of their starring ingredients are grown at nearby organic farms, handcrafted by local producers, or raised at the area’s many sustainable ranches. Michelin has even given nods to Petaluma restaurants, including Central Market, Cucina Paradiso, Risibisi, Stockhome, and Table Culture Provisions.
If the family craves something a little more basic, Petaluma has plenty of options for down-home American fare, such as burgers and pizza. Or be adventurous. Petaluma offers an amazing selection of ethnic cuisines ranging from Turkish to Thai. You won’t have to travel far to find exceptionally delicious and affordable dining.
PETALUMA: AN EPICUREAN’S DREAM
Petaluma is a foodie’s fantasy — a home to entrepreneurs who use their passion and creativity to craft ice cream, bake bread, make cheese, distill whiskeys, and ferment kombucha, to name just a few of the artisanal delicacies to be found in shops, restaurants, and markets that dot the city of Petaluma.
Explore the perfect pairing — great dining and historic downtown. Petaluma’s picturesque iron-front buildings aren’t just a feast for the eyes; the downtown district is a literal feast of dozens of eateries that offer visitors an unforgettable taste of our town. Reputed to have more restaurants per capita than much larger cities, you won’t have to look far to find one that showcases the community’s delicious abundance.
Venture outside our historic downtown to find hidden gems – sports bars, tasting rooms, and friendly neighborhood restaurants the locals know and love.
FARM TO TABLE

In Petaluma, farm-to-table cuisine isn’t a description, it’s an experience! Our fertile farmland and moderate climate have made it possible for restaurants to serve locally-grown, seasonal foods since the first restaurant opened on the dusty streets of Petaluma in the mid-1800s. And it continues to the present day.
For a unique dining experience on the Petaluma Riverfront, Luma Bar & Eatery is a plant-forward restaurant showcasing local produce with an inclusive menu for vegan, vegetarian, omnivore or meat eaters. Specialty cocktails and botanical non-alcoholic libations complement your meal.
Critics have sung the praises of Central Market’s “brilliantly-prepared,” locally-sourced menu for years. Their produce, poultry, and pork come from their nearby farm, and everything is made from scratch daily.
Della Fattoria’s name, which means “Of the farm” says it all. Everything on their menu is rooted in the soil of a westside farm. Other downtown restaurants with an emphasis on farm-to-table cuisine include Cucina Paradiso and Wild Goat Bistro, just to name a few.
PET Friendly
Petaluma loves your pets! Don’t leave your furry friends at home! Pack up the entire family and head to Petaluma. Dining out at one of Petaluma’s delightful bistros is a treat that should be shared with all members of the family, including the four-legged variety. You’ll enjoy the sights – and your pup will particularly enjoy the delicious aromas wafting along the breeze – at one of Petaluma’s many restaurants with patio seating. And if a morsel of that juicy, char-broiled burger just happened to fall from your plate and land a few inches from his nose, tails would wag. Bone appétit!

The Petaluma bistro’s French chef wants to “make you feel special.” His upcoming episode on KQED will show how he does it.

✍️ 🥇 “Jevon Martin and Marjorie Pier opened their dream restaurant, Street Social, in Petaluma just 10 weeks before the COVID-19 lockdown in 2020.
It might have been easier to walk away than stay open, but the couple pivoted, selling takeout fried chicken and, later, offering intimate chef’s table dinners and outdoor dining. It kept the lights on and the community fed, endearing them to Petalumans who have repaid the favor by making Street Social one of the most popular “undiscovered” gems in Sonoma County.”

When casting about for a name to put on her new restaurant, longtime chef and restaurateur Deb Cargile found unexpected inspiration in a suggestion from a pair of neighbor children.
“Kids always have the best ideas, right?” she said. “So I told them, ‘I need to name my new restaurant, which will be having bubbly wine and delightful baked goods and breakfasts.’ One little boy – he’s about 7 years old – said, ‘Well, why don’t you call it Bubbles and Delights?’ I loved it so much – so that became our name.”
A collaboration between Cargile and her business partner Uriel Brena – with whom she worked at the now-closed Deb’s Kitchen – the brightly decorated Bubbles & Delights Cafe officially opened its doors in September, replacing a short-lived Italian restaurant that had itself replaced a long-lived Mary’s Pizza Shack.
Before the new restaurant’s grand opening, a sign out front promised, “Coming Soon: The Best Breakfast in Town.”
As suggested by that name, Bubbles & Delights emphasizes the effervescence of sparkling wine through the laid-back pleasures of a holiday brunch – but open every day – all while boasting a decidedly international flair.
