During WWII, Sasha Jansen was only 8 years old when she was interned with her family, along with 4,000 other civilians from early 1942 until the Philippines were liberated in February 1945. Mrs. Jansen will share her amazing story of survival in the most harshest conditions imaginable. Jansen has been involved in the Bay Area Civilian Ex-Prisoners of War organization and has organized many trips back to the Philippines for former internees and their families. The City of Petaluma will honor and recognize Mrs. Jansen’s life by City Proclamation. 2pm. Free.
